Of Australia’s five largest cities, Sydney has the highest monthly mortgage repayments, as shown in the map by the large amount of red-coloured areas.
Geographically analysing the map, it shows that the eastern parts of the city, as well as the northern parts, generally have significantly higher mortgage repayments than the western and south western parts. This correlates with the fact that these areas are generally where the higher cost housing is.
Interestingly, the map also shows that mortgage repayments in the more rural south-west of the city are also quite high – comparable to parts of the eastern and northern parts of the city.
The area with the lowest repayments appears to be the area between Penrith and Blacktown, as well as around the Cabramatta area.
